The Florence Griswold Museum is an art museum in Old Lyme, CT. The museum centered on the home of Florence Griswold is noted for its collection of American Impressionist paintings. Riverfront gallery includes major works by Childe Hassam, John Henry Twachtman and Willard Metcalf. We will view the new exhibition: The Great Americans: Portraits by Jac Lahav. The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is located in New London established by a gift from Harriet Allyn in memory of her seafaring father. The museum houses a fascinating collection of over 17,000 objects from ancient times to the present; artworks from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe, with particularly strong collections of American paintings, decorative arts, and Victorian toys and doll houses. We will see two exhibitions: James B Murphy Abstracts & Emil Carlsen’s Quiet Harmonies. We may use a new mini bus for this trip (subject to change).

This tribute show features Shadows of the Sixties singing the songs of the 4 Tops, the Temptations, and more! Our day will begin with coffee & cake upon arrival (based on availability), a musical interlude or sing-a-long with our guest pianist, Frank Santoro, and sit-down lunch in the Grand Dining Room. Lunch includes fruit cup & Italian wedding soup, London broil with mushroom sauce, chicken parmigiana on linguini, or broiled cod with provencal sauce all served with starch & vegetable, dessert, coffee, tea & decaf. In The Mood celebrates the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, The Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra and other idols of the 1940’s. In The Mood recreates defining moments from the 1930’s and 1940’s, assembling the greatest music from the Swing Era into a revue about the big band era and the influence of this music before, during, and after the WWII years. The second act is experienced as a moving tribute to those who fought in the war and to all veterans - even today’s. This show is at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA. We will first enjoy lunch at Shady Maple Smorgasbord, Lancaster County's largest smorgasbord featuring 200 feet of deliciously authentic Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. If time permits, there will be free time to do some shopping (based on time availability) at the Gift Shop & Farm Market.

In the year 1912 the United States was given a gift from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo of 3,000 Cherry Trees to Washington D.C. The gift and annual celebration honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan. The blooming of the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. has come to symbolize the natural beauty of our nation's capital city. The famous trees signal Washington's beginning of spring with an explosion of life and color that surrounds the Tidal Basin in a sea of pale pink & white blossoms. We will visit the Jefferson, Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Lincoln, Vietnam & Korean War Memorials, and make a photo stop at the White House. We will return home late.

The Pearl S. Buck House, a National Historic Landmark in Bucks County, PA, was the home of Pearl S. Buck and her family. The beautiful and iconic Bucks County stone farmhouse contains a rich, intact collection from the extraordinary (the typewriter on which she wrote The Good Earth) to the ordinary (a closet full of board games her family played). The original portion of the Moland house was built by John Moland in the mid-1700’s. Mrs. Moland continued to live in the home following her husband’s death and was residing in the home at the time of the Neshaminy Encampment when George Washington & the troops stayed on the property.

Learn all about their history and traditions, and understand their simple lifestyle in the midst of our modern society. Everyone loves Lancaster County’s rolling hills and lush farmland. As you meander across picturesque country roads, you will see the pristine Amish Farms, schools and windmills. After the tour, we will stop at Kitchen Kettle Village or Bird-in-Hand Farmer’s Market.
