The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia was established by Albert C. Barnes in 1922, and holds one of the finest collections of impressionist, post-impressionist, and early modern paintings, with extensive works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani, Chaim Soutine & Giorgio de Chirico; old master paintings; important examples of African sculpture; Native American ceramics, American paintings & decorative arts; and antiquities from the Mediterranean region & Asia. We will view the new exhibition Berthe Morisot (1841–1895), one of the major impressionists, worked alongside Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet & Pierre-Auguste Renoir. This exhibition traces the exceptional path of a woman who defied the social norms of her time to join the Parisian avant-garde. We may use a new mini bus for this trip (subject to change).

The Amstel House will be decorated for a traditional holiday celebration in colonial times, showing off a “dessert board” of the period, and featuring traditional 18th century customs during the period of Governor Nicholas Van Dyke's residency. At the Dutch House, experience a celebration of St. Nichols’ Eve, a tribute to the legend of Saint Nicholas, Dutch patron saint. Learn about the early period of settlement in Delaware, when this house was a beamed-ceiling, frame house, a rare early colonial urban survival. These two historic houses are located in New Castle, DE. We may use a new mini bus for this trip (subject to change).

The Holiday show will feature the "Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest" finalist Patrick Dunn, performing as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, along with Michael Jackson, The Blues BrothersTM (Eric Martin & Carmen Romano), Whitney Houston, David Bowie (David Brighton) and George Michael (Michael Knight). We will first visit the Van Riper-Hopper House Museum placed on the National Registers of Historic Places because of its unique construction & design in criterion C. Built in 1786 by Uriah Van Riper for his bride Maria (Polly) Berdan. This Dutch Colonial house offers a rare walk back in time. Next, the pageantry and thrills of an authentic medieval tournament come to life inside the walls of the Queen's 11th century-style castle. Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament in Lyndhurst, NJ includes 2 hour medieval jousting tournament, 6 competing knights, real weapons, beautiful horses and live flight of the royal falcon. We will first enjoy a traditional Amish lunch at an Amish Home in Lancaster, PA. Then as we begin a tour of the countryside, our local guide will share many personal stories about her Amish wedding, her beautiful handquilting, and many fascinating aspects of Amish culture. We will visit a working dairy farm where our guide grew up and later married; her nephew now lives on the farm with his wife and 8 children. We will then relax in a quilt-decorated room and sit in benches much like the Amish use at church services as we listen to more stories about growing up Amish. We will also visit the Amish cows that work on the farm! During the tour we will stop at Family Farm Quilts and a Country Roadside stand.

Our day starts with a visit to the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum of Connecticut in Windsor. This museum shows visitors the history of electric communications and how it has changed our lives. Tune radios 80 years old… talk over candlestick telephones… listen to 100-year-old records… tap out your name in Morse Code… see what early television looked like… all here at the museum. Then we will head to the Connecticut Trolley Museum. Join the motormen in singing traditional Christmas carols as the trolley travels through the "Tunnel of Lights". When you return, head inside the Visitors Center, which has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland, with model trains and decorations galore. You can take pictures with Santa Claus, who will also have a gift for each child. We may use a new mini-bus for this trip (subject to change).
